Roma have said they are considering a transfer of goalkeeper Mauro Icardi from Torino to Inter, sources close to the situation have told ESPN FC.
Icardi was linked with a move back to Roma, with AC Milan also reported to be interested, but Roma decided against making the transfer until their players are rested and ready to face their Serie A rivals. Inter, meanwhile, will face their long-term rivals from the Serie A at the San Siro on Saturday.
Torino, Roma, Inter, Sampdoria, Sampdoria, Napoli, Real Madrid, Benfica, Inter Milan and Benfica are also interested in Icardi. Inter, however, decided against moving forward, according to one source, fearing they might have to turn down the striker after he was involved in a row with Torino president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Icardi's contract expires at the end of the season, so it is understood a move to Torino would be the next step. Icardi could still join Inter before the end of the transfer window in order to play Champions League football.
Inter: Mauro Icardi, Davide Appollonio, Diego Fagundez, Luca Zorzi, Daniele De Rossi, Luciano Vietto, Alessandro Nesta, Davide Zappacosta.
Torino: Alessandro Nesta, Gabriele Marcotti, Mauro Icardi, Alessandro Del Piero, Davide Del Gaudio, Francesco Totti, Simone Padoin, Angelo Bragato.
